Executive Board

As explained in Section 6 of our constitution, Executive Board Members serve for a one year term and may reapply at the end of the conclusive year.By participating in the Leadership Class, you are also becoming a member of the Student Council Association Executive Board. Executive Board Members will plan and participate in SCA events, attend SCA monthly meetings, and any other duties as assigned by the SCA advisor. An Executive Board applicant must maintain a good citizenship record (no suspensions) during the school year of his/her running for position.

FAQ

How to Get Involved: Apply!

Who can apply for SCA?

The Student Council is always looking for new people with fresh ideas! Each spring, applications for the following school year become available to pick up (either right on this website, or in Room 2514). The Executive Board is open to all sophomores, juniors, and seniors who have maintained a 2.5 GPA. There are office positions available for each of these three grades and are more detailed in the application packet.

Freshmen are unable to participate in Student Council during their first year of high school. They are, however, eligible to run for class office as part of the Class Council.

The Job of an SCA Member

What is the difference between Class Council and SCA?

Class Council is composed of class officers, elected by their respective class only. Class Council is in charge of organizing class competitions, class fundraisers, prom (Junior Class Council), All Night Grad (Senior Class Council), and other similar events.

The Student Council Association works closely with Class Council, but focuses primarily on the school as a whole. The SCA Officers hold monthly meetings with the Class Council to maintain close relations and coordinate events (like pep rallies) together.

Student Council Association Constitution

The JCHS Student Council Association was founded in its inaugural year: 2012. Our sponsor, Miss McDonald, teamed up with Mr. Gabriel to cowrite the original Student Council Association Constitution. Since our founding, the constitution has reflected our growth as a school, by including different class requirements for office once our school reached a full four grade levels. Since then, the consitution has not been amended. The 2015-2016 Student Council is currently working with our new sponsor Mrs. Hill to ensure that Champe's homecoming events and awareness week run smoothly.
